Mermaids
Some people look like oceans while others looks like trees
Plenty look like animals and some are even tiny bumble bees
They buzz and sway and crash; hum and dance and fold
Spinning like a lighting flash, young faces suddenly old.
Speaking with the voice of orange spray their movements elapse like opening doors
And all you want to do is crawl into their heart, to simply make them yours.
Discover why they look like a forest fire when they laugh
Or why they crinkle their nose slightly against the wind's path.
Why do they open their hands to pray, like they are holding hands with God.
Surely no one could say that the things that make you unique are odd?
Why do some look like animals and others like nature?
Why do their whispers entice you to answer?
How many wonders do they hold in their hearts
And how many times have they fallen apart?
Swirling, drowning, sizzling, devouring
Yearning, hurting in an ocean of feeling
Opening, closing
Speaking
Slowing
Some people look like oceans while other look like trees.
But what makes you you, and what makes me me?
